Very quick post as I’m fighting off sleep (one eye is already closed so I look like a pirate) and could literally just drop off any moment.
This beer was incredible. It smelled like an alcoholic’s breakfast: marmite and honey on burnt toast with whiskey, and it tasted like a rich guy’s office: leather, tobacco, whiskey, oak… and admittedly some things you probably wouldn’t find in a rich guy’s office but you might find in mine – like raisins and dark chocolate and spare shoes.
It was syrupy and sweet at first, but finished with roasty smokey savoury notes that lingered on the tongue. It was weird and wonderful like most old ales are, but it was also surprisingly drinkable.
